Howard Stern Makes First Appearance on Sirius

Howard is Free!
On January 1st, 2006 at about 12:15 AM EST Howard makes his debut on Sirius Satellite Radio. A simple phone call by a groggy Howard Stern may change the face of radio forever. While being coy when questioned about his reported marriage to model Beth Ostrosky, Howard was at no loss for words. He proceeded to talk for over an hour about the move, his vacation, his New Years Eve dinner with Tom Chiusano, and even provided commentary to a playback of his early days on WNBC, but evaded questions about his reported marriage. He would only say that he would discuss it on January 9th, and that it had nothing to do with his secret revelation on January 9th.
He was joined briefly by show producer Gary D’ellabate (aka Bababooey) who complained briefly about how crappy he felt, and hung up.

I’m sure this will be just a small taste of many great years on Sirius for Howard. Cheers Howard! Welcome to the free world of Sirius!

Picasa and Hello

Google has a couple of great programs for managing and sharing your photos. Picasa helps you organize, burn CDs, order prints, and, coupled with Hello, share your photos.

Y’all know that I don’t just send out a bunch of crap all the time. These programs are really, really good.

Oh Ticket Why Have You Forsaken Me?

Over the last 3 months since Big Dick Hunter was fired I've found myself listening less and less to The Ticket . At first I attributed it to the fact that I wasn't listening to Big Dick on the way home, so my radio was no longer tuned to 1310 AM when I left for work in the morning. I've always found Dunham and Miller just barely listenable. Was it not for Gordon Keith I wouldn't listen to The Musers at all.

Apparently I'm not the only one whose finding the ticket harder to listen to, just check out the latest Arbitron ratings , pay close attention to the trend. The station has been in decline since Jeff Catlin took over for Bruce Gilbert as Program Director.
Anyone who would let Big Dick get away must be missing something. Cancel the show, that's fine, but I would've found a way to use his talent.

I got Sirius Sattelite Radio a little over a year ago, and have listened to it almost exclusively since. The only exceptions were Howard Stern and The Ticket. I still listen to BaD Radio and The Hardline occasionally, but nothing like I used to. I was a confirmed P1, even frequently choosing The Musers over Howard Stern. Now, I have a hard time listening to more than one segment without changing the channel. I don't know what changed, but they just don't hold my interest anymore.

I only hope for Richard that he made some good contacts while in New York, he would be a perfect fit for Howard 100 .

George Zimmer's Trip to Lewisville

After 15+ total years with The Men's Wearhouse I'm still inspired when I hear George Zimmer speak. The value this organization places on all of us is unlike any other company I've ever heard of. I work with such an incredible group of people. We are an incredibly talented family. Many times we frustrate each other, but everyone cares deeply about the others success.
When George got my attention at the Christmas party the night before and said that he would definitely be coming to our store the next day I couldn't wait to get back to the table to tell everyone it was for sure. We've been having a great year, on top of a great year last year. Add to that the fact that one of our guys, Alex, got 'Rookie of the Year' that night and it was sure to be a special visit.
We had two new people starting that day, and what a day to come on board. We didn't really expect him until later in the afternoon but just as we were putting the finishing touches on the store and trying to drink enough coffee to cure our hangovers from the party Mo says, "George is standing out front." We were all shocked. It was only 10:30 am and we were all hurting. George walks in the door and asked, "any mild hangovers today?" We all groaned laughter. Along with George was our District Manager, Rodney, and George's brother-in-law who was taking pictures for Fortune Magazine. (I think this bodes well for our placement in the best places to work for!)
For the next hour he talked clothes and business, and we all listened intently. It would have been better had we been busy, but George kept the Customer Service Associates busy by having them pick a new tie for his outfit. He took off his old tie, signed it, and gave it to Mo. He was speaking later that day at a charity event, so he had to run, but we all enjoyed the chance to meet the man. Posted by Picasa
