A Big Government Fix-It Plan for New Orleans - New York Times

Unbelievable?

No.

Republican politicians are proving every day that they are for big government as much, or more, than Democrats.

Rep. Richard H. Baker (R-Baton Rouge) has the brilliant idea to make the federal government the biggest landowner in New Orleans. He wants to take $80 Billion of your money to "pay off lenders, restore public works, buy huge ruined chunks of the city, clean them up and then sell them back to developers."

This is a horrible idea!
We should be questioning whether it is wise to rebuild parts of New Orleans at all.
The city is built below sea level, and is located on the coast. Those two reasons should be enough to take a second look at redeveloping New Orleans.

I, for one, can no longer sit by while the big government Republicans compose and vote for freedom-robbing bills like the Patriot Act, take the first step towards socialized medicine via prescriptions, support anti-business laws like the Wright Amendment, want to involve the government in regulating the private transmission you PAY for from your satellite or cable provider, and now want to use taxpayer money to socialize New Orleans.

In the immortal words of Ronald Reagan,
"Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem!"
Everyone please take the time to call the congressional switchboard at
202-224-3121 and let your representative know that you do not support big government politicians, Democrat or Republican.
